I've made this recipe well-nigh a dozen times and I love it! The only thing I'd recommend is washing the canned beans in a colander to reduce the extra sodium in the canned juice. Otherwise the chili tastes too salty.
11/05/2006
I'm giving this a "solid" 4 of 5 stars. I tweaked information technology only a bit, using a pound of ground chuck and nigh 3/4 to 4/5 pound of mild italian sausage. Cutting back on the salt a scrap "just 'cause" and used a footling stock rather than the h2o to requite it a little "wearisome-cooked" flavor. I've had information technology on the stove for about a 1/2 hour and it'southward already respectable. I'chiliad expecting good things with a niggling time for the flavors to "meld." Will definitely go on this recipe effectually, particularly for quick-fix chili cravings.
07/19/2001
This chili is awesome! My swain and I take fabricated it at least 5 times because nosotros always get a craving for it. I've also made information technology in the crock pot and it turns out very well.
01/xix/2004
This chili was FABULOUS!!!! I made a couple of changes past using a cup of dark beer instead of the h2o, and for one of the cans of diced tomatoes I used a can of Rotel "chili fixins" diced tomatoes. Topped with some sour foam and cheese and atop white rice this was the best!
01/03/2008
Fantabulous, quick chili recipe. I used i can of beef broth in place of the water, and crushed red pepper flakes instead of hot pepper sauce, and all kidney beans since that's what was in cupboard. Will definitely be my NEW chili recipe! Thanks for sharing.
06/06/2000
Information technology was sooo good! The all-time chili I accept ever made. I modified information technology a trivial, replacing beer for the water and adding a little cinnamon, cocoa powder and ruby basis pepper. It was delicious!
11/21/2006
I used this recipe as a base for the ingredients I had on paw, unlike lycopersicon esculentum products and beans. I added a can of tomato paste - as it seemed a scrap soupier than I like. A winner with the kids too!
02/10/2008
I've made this multiple times. I almost always made a triple batch in my stock pot and freeze portions for lunches for next week or so. Yous can hands double the chili powder for more spice, or even puree a few jalapeno peppers with the tomato plant sauce when you add it.
10/02/2000
This was horrible chili. Will non brand once again.
04/02/2010
This turns out great! I tweak it a bit, though, considering I call back it turns out as well soupy but the style it'due south written here. I add 1/2 of a sugariness scarlet pepper, chopped, and one/2 of a bell pepper (whatever color I accept on mitt), chopped. I omit the water birthday. I drain the beans a bit and use black beans instead of pinto beans for colour and a stronger flavor. Instead of fresh garlic, I use 3/viii tsp. garlic powder. I only use near 1 tsp. of bounding main salt. I as well use ane tsp. red pepper flakes in identify of the hot pepper sauce. This is a great recipe for rainy weather! Thanks. =o)
11/28/2011
Great chili with a few modifications. I substituted the can of regular diced tomatoes with a tin of diced tomatoes with green chilis. Subtituted the pinto beans with a can of whole kernel corn. Too added a 6 oz tin can of "Chase's Tomato plant Paste with Basil, Garlic, and Oregeno" since the original recipe was a little too soupy. This thickened it up nicely. Since I added the tomoato paste, I also added a few more shakes of chili pulverization (maybe an boosted 3/four tsp). I tuckered the kidney beans and rinsed them before adding to the pot. I used near i/2 tbsp of salt (instead of one tbsp) and an overflowing tbsp (instead of 1 tbsp) of Frank's Red Hot sauce. This was the all-time chili I've e'er had. Highly recommended.
01/14/2011
love love love it! i only made a few changes. i used beef stock instead of water, a can of kidney beans instead of the pinto (what i had on mitt), and 1/2 tbsp of hot pepper sauce instead of a total tbsp (i am not a spicy person!). it was perfect! spicy enough for my husband, yet non besides crazy for me! thank you for my first chili recipe that i love! will definitely brand once more and again!
02/xix/2000
This si the best Chili I've ever made. I actually is ameliorate the next day!
04/19/2011
This was really tasty! I go to a customs higher for culinary classes and we had a soup applied today and we had to brand chili and another soup of our pick. I did everything to the t, except I forgot about the pinto and kidney beans. So I split up a can of cannelini beans in half since I was making minestrone likewise. My teacher gave me a 93 saying it was thick, mesomorphic, rich and compact. Thanks and so much for this recipe! I think I'll use this recipe forever!
11/20/2011
We had this tonight. Had to add together a few extras since we did non take exactly what was chosen for.
01/29/2010
Practiced chili, except information technology was a little too sweet. Against my better judgement, I added the 2 TBS of sugar. Information technology would have been better with about 2 tsp of saccharide. I served it over Flamin' Hot Fritos, then put a scoop of mac n cheese on height with a dollop of sour cream. OMG it was GOOD. The Flamin' Hot Fritos took some of the sweet away. I also simply used 1 can of beans, cause real Texans don't put beans in their chili and I'thou still a Texan at centre!! I will use this recipe again and over again for quick chili, but with less sugar.
01/05/2011
First-class recipe. I omitted the h2o and used dark beer following the advice of 1 of the reviews I read. My family LOVED this chili.
10/19/2010
Very practiced chili. I usually don't review recipes when I mess with the ingredients, just my changes to this one were minimal. I omitted the eight oz. can of sauce and instead added a fourteen.5 oz. tin can of stewed. My three cans of diced tomatoes were Burn down Roasted, w/ greenish chilis, and westward/ green pepper onion and celery. I couldn't run into using an Italian way tomato in a chili recipe...only I'm sure it would have turned out fine anyway. I used ane-1/2 lbs. ground beef because that's all I had and I seasoned to taste, rather than with exact amounts. It turned out very well, though mine is probably a bit more watery than if I would have used the viii oz. of tomato sauce. I cooked this on depression for about an 60 minutes and a half to cook the tomatoes downwards. Thanks for sharing!
03/fifteen/2011
Muh. Easy but missing the depth of flavor associated with chili.
02/28/2011
Perfect flavor!! I forgot to add together the water and glad I did as the consistency was just the way I like it not to thick or thin. Thank you Pam great recipe!
01/09/2011
Loved this recipe! Served with Mexican cornbread. I used 28 oz. of diced tomatoes and 1 tin of Rotel instead. I besides halved the hot sauce and then my two year quondam could eat it.
04/x/2010
I was not altogether impressed with this recipe. Admittedly, I altered it a bit to fit the ingredients that I had, but the alterations were minimal. I left out the hot pepper sauce, substituted garlic pulverisation for the minced garlic, and used Mexican fashion stewed tomatoes instead of Italian-mode since that was what I had available to me. When I first tasted it, it was a little too sugariness, so I added a splash of white vinegar to balance information technology a bit. That helped, but when all was said and washed, there was however some flavor present that made it taste a little odd. Others who ate it said they idea information technology tasted fine, but I wasn't satisfied with it and concluded up getting rid of the leftovers because I knew I wouldn't consume it.
10/05/2010
I changed it a niggling from what I had on manus. I used ii cans of diced tomato plant, 1 (4oz) can chopped green chili'south, omited the water and added a can of chili beans. Eveything else was the same as recipe. Information technology was actually adept
12/12/2010
This chili is absolutely delicious. We had to substitute a can of tomato paste for the tomato sauce, but we didn't change anything else. We will definitely brand this over again! Thank you for a great recipe, Pam!
09/16/2011
The kickoff time I made this, I followed the recipe exactly, and information technology was pretty good. My fellow (a Texan) and I both enjoyed it, and information technology truly did become improve every day. The second time, I merely made one modify- added some bacon (about 5 slices) and substituted some of the beefiness for balmy italian sausage. This time, it turned out very soupy, I had to cook it way longer than suggested to thicken the sauce. And it was so incredibly spicy that I took one tiny taste and my oral cavity was burning the rest of the night! I tried to dilute the spice by adding a petty saccharide, and some flour to thicken it up and battle the spice, but by the time I added enough brown sugar and flour to make the spice endurable and get the correct consistency, it had become too sweet. I'yard not certain if information technology was because I used a different brand of hot pepper sauce that was too overpowering, or if using the sausage instead of beef was too much. I'll probably start looking for a different chili recipe, because although it was very expert the first time I made it, the second time I was pretty disappointed. Too soupy, also many tomatoes (I prefer beefier chili to chili that's heavy on veggies), and too spicy. Tip: I fried the salary in a sautee pan, and removed the bacon but left the grease in the pan. Then I sautted the onion and garlic in the bacon grease, instead of in with the beef. This gave the onion and garlic and AMAZING flavour, I most wanted to eat them plain instead of adding them to the chili!
05/04/2011
I would brand this again. Didn't add the saccharide, though.
11/17/2010
I've used this recipe for ii years. It is delicious. Mode Easy. The only tweak I've made is I employ red beans, in place of kidney and pinto beans.
04/16/2011
This was VERY EASY to brand. I am not a fan of cooking so this was great for me. The simply affair that I would alter would be the amount of common salt; maybe only use half of what is called for; it was manner to salty for my sense of taste. Other than that, information technology was succulent!
12/19/2011
Very skilful and quick! I followed the recipe to a T except that I rinsed both beans and used chicken broth instead of water! Yum!!
12/01/2010
This was actually, really delicious. It was extremely piece of cake to brand. My husband loved it along with some homemade corn staff of life I made. Actually Groovy recipe!
01/18/2011
This is ane fantastic chili. I have made information technology several times and I am never dissappointed. The thing is that I added a footling extra garlic.
08/31/2011
This was wonderful chili and it volition definitely be made once again in this house. I made just a few changes simply I think it would have been fine equally it is. I used beef goop in place of the water, i didn't add the cumin because i didn't have whatsoever, i used 2 cans of each of the beans and I added a small can of greenish chiles. It was Then delicious. If it is ameliorate the second day I can't imagine how good it is going to be tomorrow. Thanks Pam.
02/02/2010
Crawly!! I was told this was "outstanding". I only made a few minor adjustments - just used half the beans and I used diced tomatoes with chili flavoring rather than Italian seasoning. I too allow it simmer for most ii hours rather than 30 min. Thanks for this crawly, easy, chili!!!!!
02/28/2010
Really quick and tastes better than a lot of chili recipes that take forever. I ever serve my chili over rice, and my husband's over sweetness cornbread, with sour cream and cheddar cheese on top.
01/xi/2012
My family had this last nighttime, and everyone loved it! It's quick and piece of cake to make. We topped it with grated cheese and chrushed some chips on acme. It has a great flavor. I was surprised my kids would like it with all the tomatoes in the recipe, simply they really add together a lot of flavor. I was as well very surprised we had any left over, but the leftovers won't terminal for long!
04/12/2012
This was a decent chili, just information technology didn't wow me. I made it exactly as written. The "hot pepper sauce" I used was original Tabasco Sauce. I did notice an inconsistency with one ingredient: "Italian-style diced tomatoes" (due east.1000., tomatoes with a few herbs) in the ingredient list, became "diced tomatoes with chili peppers" (e.chiliad., Ro-Tel). I used the former. Also, it didn't say whether to rinse and/or drain the beans, so I didn't. The chili came out a little soupy to my gustatory modality, and the sugar added a sugariness not often seen in chili. It was nice enough, and I ate it all over near four days, merely it but didn't stand out among chilis I've tried.
12/25/2009
Made this for our visitor Christmas dinner pot luck. Put information technology in a crock pot and let information technology melt until the party. Made information technology as is. Was very good. Cheers for the recipe.
05/13/2012
I accept a picky husband, and a ix year old girl who hates chili and both of them loved this chili! Our whole family loved it! My daughter asked me to brand it again! I tried to stick to the original recipe simply didn't have everything on hand so I had to make some changes; I used cubed chicken breast instead of ground beef, only nigh one/two of a scarlet onion instead of one onion, replaced the Italian-style diced tomatoes with diced tomatoes with roasted red peppers, and a can of black beans replaced the pinto (I really demand to go shopping!). I also left out the salt and really did not miss it. I left out the black pepper cause I don't really like it. Everything else I did co-ordinate to the recipe. It was and so very yummy!!!
03/23/2009
Very fast recipe to put together and information technology tasted great. I made a few changes, such every bit adding stale oregano, hot paprika and a pinch of cayenne. I omitted the table salt - Fashion besides much sodium. I used a bottle of beer instead of the h2o, and let it simmer for 30 minutes before adding the beans (plus some chopped light-green pepper). I let it simmer another 30 minutes, and served it with grated cheddar and a dollop of sour foam on meridian.
12/29/2011
This is a practiced chili. Next fourth dimension I will use all kidney beans, and ease upwardly on the spice some
12/30/2011
This came out great! It fabricated a ton and was skilful for leftovers. My only change was to use onion pulverisation instead of diced onion.
04/20/2011
I really love this recipe. Information technology is a good place to start. From hither you can get a little artistic and outset making up your oWn take. Wonderful!
04/20/2010
I used some jalapeno juice instead of the hot sauce, just otherwise, this is dandy chili! This is my base recipe from now on.
12/27/2011
Delicious. Fastest, easiest chili. I used the full T of cumin and virtually 1 1/three or 1 1/2 T. Chili powder. Hot pepper sauce for your own bowl every bit desired. Served with yogurt or sour cream, chopped green pepper and onion and shredded cheddar.
03/eleven/2006
This is a fabled recipe for chili! Not only is it quick, information technology's also easy. I do, however add 2 cans of kidney and 2 cans of pinto beans. Rinse them well. Add together besides a green pepper to the onions when cooking. Gives a little more than "meaty-ness" to it. Besides, to give it a little more than smoky flavor, I do my ground beef on our charcoal grill. Just adds the little something to the flavor. All in all, I'd say astonishing recipe! Cheers so much for sharing!
08/18/2011
Very skillful recipe. I Really enjoyed information technology. In my case, I added 1/ii a light-green pepper and 1/two a ruby pepper, half the common salt and no sugar.
12/10/2001
Needs more beans.
07/28/2008
My hubby and I accept been looking for an like shooting fish in a barrel chili recipe. This is fantastic!! Cheers.
12/31/2011
Excellent! I used ground turkey, boosted garlic & both pinto & black beans. Delish!!!
eleven/23/2008
This recipe is neat in gustation also as simplicity. I would recommend using the diced tomatoes with no common salt added because I didn't and somehow it turned out likewise salty for us, I think 1 tablespoon of salt might be too much. I will try to cut downwards adjacent time now that I know what to wait. You can e'er add salt only it is extremely difficult to reduce it one time its in it. I did increase the pepper sauce due to personal preference and added a little more cumin, chili pulverisation and a small dash of oregano.
09/13/2011
This was so like shooting fish in a barrel to make and was delish! I changed the diced tomatoes to rotel diced tomatoes with chiles.. fourteen oz size.. and omitted the hot pepper sauce.. and it was perfect!
01/23/2010
Great standard recipe. I have been making this with imitation veggie meat (yves mexican flavored, it's iii/four pound per pack) and have been using love apple paste instead of tomato sauce since as some people said, it's too liquidy. I don't have this problem with the paste. Also I found that if you put the beans in undrained, then don't add together salt, it's as well much.
10/06/2008
This is my husband'south favorite chili recipe. I made very slight changes which are: Instead of Italian-fashion diced tomatoes, I apply Chili-manner diced tomatoes (usually find this at WalMart). I apply 2 cups of water instead of 1. I increase the chili powder & basis cumin by 1 teaspoon each. Instead of simmering on the stove, I put everything in the crockpot and cook on low heat for 6 - viii hours. Makes the house smell wonderful and the flavors have that "side by side day" taste which I love from soups, stews & chili.
12/28/2009
We loved how quick & easy this recipe was, the simply trouble was the sugariness. In our opinions chili should not be sweet. Nosotros kept proverb over and over again this is so adept EXECPT for the sugar. We've fabricated it muplitple times since so only without the sugar..... YUM!!!
11/20/2011
Fantabulous QUICK AND Piece of cake. WHEN Yous DRAIN THE MEAT USE THAT TO SAUTE THE GARLIC AND ONIONS. I Drained THE KIDNEY BEANS AND PINTO BEANS BEFORE Adding TO THE POT. DRAIN THE TOMATOES Besides BUT SAVE IT INCASE THE CHILLI GETS TO THICK Then YOU Can Add together SOME OF THE DRAINED Tomato INSTEAD OF JUST WATER. FANTASTIC, Simple, QUICK RECIPE AND IT TASTES GREAT. IT WAS Non A HIT...Information technology WAS A HOME RUN.
12/18/2011
Really adept, first time making chili...my young man loved information technology! Used ground turkey instead of beef and added hot sauce to taste. I served it with cornbread.
03/25/2008
This was an excellent recipe. Nosotros omitted the hot sauce because children we eating also, but it was crawly with AND without! We made a couple of 'errors' with besides niggling ground beef, too many beans...but information technology was fantastic besides the chefs mistakes...lol
02/04/2012
Best chili I've had in a LONG time! I halved the recipe and it seems overly bulky for my taste - side by side time I will still cut information technology in half but keep both cans of beans. Subbed cayenne for hot sauce and love apple paste for love apple sauce (didn't have any). Cut the water back to 2T to avoid soupiness (putting information technology into breadstuff bowls) - perfecto!
05/23/2013
This was ane of the best chilis I have ever made. I turned this into chili mac and we raved over this unproblematic but delicious dish. I scaled this down to half, used ground chuck and cooked the onion and garlic right in as I browned the beefiness. I had to use what I had on mitt simply this recipe is so versatile that it still turned out so tasty. I used Texas sweet onion, Del Fuerte mexican tomato sauce, one-half a can of roma tomato paste instead of Italian style diced tomatoes, a tin of stewed tomatoes, one can of Bush-league'southward chili beans, a splash of white vinegar,a hefty pinch of cocoa pulverisation, and replaced the water with beef broth because I had it open in the refrigerator. I forgot to add the hot pepper sauce, but that may have been a plus considering hubs no longer has his cast fe stomach.
01/22/2012
Awesome! Quick to set up on a cold night.
12/29/2011
Very like shooting fish in a barrel and very good. For the hot sauce, I used a couple tablespoons of my favorite taco sauce.
12/01/2008
I've made this twice now and it is VERY good. Quick and piece of cake with fantastic results. I was somewhat dislocated with the ingredient list: it calls for 2 cans of Italian-fashion diced tomatoes, but then the directions refer to tomatoes with chili peppers. I used 3 cans regular diced tomatoes (undrained) and then ane 4oz. tin can (tuckered) diced chilies. I also used all kidney beans and reduced the salt to ii tsp. and the hot pepper sauce to 1 tsp. (I'm a weakling when it comes to spice) Delicious!
11/xiii/2000
This is by far the best chili I have tasted!
12/01/2011
Very good. I used footing turkey (dieting) and maybe one-half the salt. I left out the hot sauce because I'm a wimp with spices. It was swell. The hubby who loves oestrus, added hot sauce to his bowl at the end. I liked the hint of the sweet. Highly recommend the recipe.
10/16/2004
This chili recipe was very tasty...the all-time I've tried. I substituted 1 lb ground beef and 1 large leftover prime number rib (cubed), halved the amount of onion, left out the hot sauce (for my girl's sake), and used 1 C dark beer instead of h2o. I also let it simmer uncovered for about 2 hours as it seemed a little watered down. The side by side time I make this recipe, I'll add one tin can of black beens in addition to the kidneys and pintos that the recipe calls for. I'd recommend this recipe to anyone who likes a hearty, classic-falvored chili.
11/05/2009
I was skeptical of whatever chili that didn't accept to cook all day, but this was excellent!
04/14/2012
Nifty chili recipe
08/22/2006
Turned out well, but with some alterations: I used a slowcooker, and let it cook a good 20 hours. This immune it to thicken up. I used hard cider in identify of the h2o and added a few sprinkles of ground cloves. Adjacent time I'll utilize only kidney beans, I like the firmer texture of the kidney beans more the pintos. Besides I'll employ tomato paste rather than sauce to help with the overall consistency. Yet I give this chili excellent marks for the blend of flavors, not too spicy, just sugariness enough.
12/05/2009
This is my go-to recipe anytime we need chili. To add more than color and crisis, I add ane chopped dark-green bong pepper and one cup of frozen corn. Nosotros love this served with a nice piece of corn bread.
01/31/2008
This is the best Chili we have e'er consume and to add together to information technology would simply accept away the tast. To me Miss or Mrs Pam Smith know'due south what she'southward doing
11/17/2011
Keen way to make quick chili! I substitute chicken broth for h2o and add a few extra spices such as chili powder and chipotle and double the cumin and pepper and hot sauce - pretty much throw in whatever spices smell like they will taste good in the chili. I've as well made it with turkey instead of beef and information technology was TASTY!! Take made this stuff quite a few times this twelvemonth and everyone is ever requesting seconds...and thirds.
05/19/2012
Cracking recipe! Cheers for sharing!
03/01/2012
Like shooting fish in a barrel!
11/30/2011
This chili was wonderful, easy to brand for a large crowd and inexpensive. Thanks for an awesome recipe.
10/20/2008
THIS IS MY FAVORITE CHILI RECIPE... I ADD ONE CAN OF CORN TO IT AS WELL... YUMMO!
12/18/2008
Very Very easy and hearty. I leave out most of the water to make information technology thicker, and apply 2 cans of kidney beans. You tin brand it hot or mild - slap-up w/ sour cream and cheese!
04/17/2008
This is excellent! I used a 28 oz can of diced tomatoes, one modest can of tomato plant paste and one small can of tomato sauce and I omitted the chili powder because I have little ones. It turned out excellent. This is a super piece of cake, succulent meal.
12/03/2000
I loved this chili. This is easy to brand, quick to brand and great to swallow. I can't expect to eat some more than.
06/sixteen/2008
I thought it was delicious! Give thanks you lot. After I made it I transfered it to a crockpot and brought information technology to a baseball game consession stand and everyone loved it! Equally someone else said, information technology was even better the side by side day! Thanks again!
09/21/2011
I brand this all the fourth dimension, my family loves it. I but apply i pound of meat.
09/27/2005
In the commencement chili cook-off 11/04, my husband won with this recipe, but subbed dark beer for water. I made Fusion Chili (Can you figure Quick Chili I beats out the more creative Fusion Chili?) In side by side chili-cookoff, husband stood by Quick Chili 1, Simply I tried Chili Two past Cathie, calculation fresh chilantro and bit more chili powder and near ii TBL cumin. I won.
08/31/2009
Darn good chili!! Quick & piece of cake just what i was looking for.Thank you :))
x/09/2013
This one of the all-time things to consume on a common cold day. The other thing is love apple soup with grilled cheese sandwiches.
04/16/2008
I brought it into work and people who don't even eat chili loved information technology and asked for more next calendar week
01/04/2006
This is a great basic chili recipe. Sometimes I use half ground turkey and one-half ground beef. I as well add diced reddish and dark-green bong pepper. I utilize the petite-cutting canned tomatoes because I don't similar big chunks of tomatoes. I start with one-half the corporeality of chili pulverization considering some family unit members tin can't handle the spice. I serve it with sour foam and shredded cheddar cheese on the side. Yummy!
12/11/2009
This is the beginning time I've fabricated chili and I think I did a pretty skillful job thanks to this recipe! I couldn't detect the Italian-Way tomatoes so I used the Zesty Chili Style and just didn't add water. This is really good considering how quick and easy it is. Cheers!
08/20/2009
This was delicious!! I used beef broth instead of the h2o and a can of Rotel instead of the diced tomatoes. Everyone thought information technology was great!
12/04/2008
If you need a quick chili, use this one. This was the all-time ground beef chili I ever made or ate. I don't usually like chili fabricated with ground beef - never considered it the real thing! This is quick and flavorful. Ignore the review that says information technology'south terrible! I'thousand throwing out all my other quick chili recipes and only going with this one.
11/20/2011
What a unproblematic recipe! I made it exactly as listed with the exception of adding some green pepper and omitting the hot pepper sauce every bit my husband and I don't particularly like spicy chili. I made this for a party we threw recently and it was a big hit with everyone there! This was the first chili recipe I had always attempted and we just love it.
11/21/2011
Such a great chili receipe! Easy to follow and tastes delicious! I thought it was a piffling soupier than I would've liked, next time I'll lessen the h2o or add some tomato paste. Also, I used carmine pepper flakes instead of hot sauce and made mine pretty spicy. Great lord's day football watching meal!
06/xv/2009
Cracking recipe. Super easy- throw information technology together an hour before dinnertime and it's ready to become. Tastes as expert as some of those 'all-solar day' chili'due south I've been a slave to the kitchen for. Clothes information technology upwardly as you like- add a trivial actress kick with some cheyanne pepper, or make a niggling 'fixin'south' bar for company with cheese, fries, green onions, sour cream and jalapenos. Well liked by all.
12/07/2008
This recipe is easy to work with. We didn't need 8 servings. I fabricated some adjustments.(one pound ground beef,ii cans diced tomato,(ane chili set,ane regular).Reduced the spices based on the recipe portions.Used one onion and iii garlic cloves. For the h2o,kept it at i cup, simply used 1/2 water and one/2 beer. Added greenish peppers and corn. Can't wait to make the total recipe next time.
12/07/2004
A+++++ I accept made this twice and information technology is awesome. Both times I put information technology in my crock pot in the morning and we had it for supper that night. Fifty-fifty though I put it in the crock pot I nevertheless browned and drained the meat kickoff. The first time I made it there was a very slight sweet taste to it. It wasn't bad but nosotros are just not used to a sweetness taste in our chili so the next time I left out the saccharide and it was perfect. This chili is not spicy so information technology is perfect for the kids, we adults add cayenne pepper or ruddy pepper flakes to our bowls to spice it up a piffling more than. The only other thing I did was adding flour to make information technology a little thicker. I took out a loving cup of the broth and mixed it with flour to make a paste and let information technology simmer. We will be making this often.
04/09/2012
I LOVE this chili! Very quick and easy to make, and the flavor is smashing...I do add a scrap more hot pepper sauce (I utilize Frank'southward Red Hot) because my husband and I similar spicy food. I too add a few packets of Taco Bell balmy sauce (my grandmother's "undercover" chili ingredient haha)

Tin can't get wrong with this chili! Easy to make, even for a college student! I've made information technology on several different occasions, and it is e'er a huge hit. It fifty-fifty won a sense of taste test between four other chili's at a friend's chili consequence. It's great without any changes or subs, only it'south very easy to change to adapt your personal gustatory modality too. I like a sweeter chili, so I add ketchup. For the crowd that likes it spicy, I substitute cans of Rotel for ane can of tomatoes. There'southward really no way that this chili can taste bad!

Loved this chili! It was very like shooting fish in a barrel and cheap to make. I used four fresh tomatoes and ane can considering I didn't have tomato sauce or canned tomatoes, it was a perfect ratio. I remember the fresh tomatoes add together to the texture as well. I added just a little flour in the meat (like a roux) to thicken it up. Delicious!

My married man requests this chili all the time and it'due south an easy become-to when sports are on or if we have unexpected company. I usually try to have most the items on paw but it can exist altered very easily and still exist nifty! I've made it with ground beef, ground turkey, and chicken breast. Sometimes I add just a tad more heat (hot sauce) depending on the company. Information technology's also great to freeze in freezer numberless for individual servings. My Marine son had information technology when he was home on leave last year and raved nearly it. He'due south a picky eater so I consider it a winning recipe!
